Bypass Separators

Bypass Separators treat all flows which are generated by rainfall rates of up to 6.5mm/hr. This in turn means it covers over 99% of all rainfall.
Flows which are above this rate are allowed to bypass the separator. These separators are used when it is believed there is an acceptable risk not to provide full treatment for high flows. This can be explained where there is low possibility of heavy rainfall and a large spillage occur at the same time.

Surface water drains normal discharge indirectly into underground waters or to a watercourse via a soakaway. Sometimes chemicals, suspended solids and oil can contaminate the surface water affecting the discharges. This can have a serious impact on the receiving water.

There are regulations put in place and agencies i.e the Environment Agency who have published guidance on surface water disposal. These offer a range of methods of dealing with pollution both at the source and the point of discharge from site. This is called end of pipe treatment.

Sometimes there are methods in which you may not need a bypass separator. When run-off is draining from car parks and non operational areas these are classed as low risk areas. Therefore a source control approach such as an infiltration trench or permeable surfaces. This maybe a suitable means of treatment.

You can also install oil separators on surface water drainage systems. This protects the receiving water from oil pollutants which can be present due to accidental spillage or minor leaks from vehicles.

There are 2 standard types of bypass separators.
Class 1 - which is suitable for removing small droplets of oil
Class 2 - Which are suitable for dealing with discharge where a lower quality requirement applies. For example where the effluent passes to foul sewer.

Ezy Drain - Soakaway Kits

Ezy-Drain: The most cost effective solution for a Soakaway or Drainage Field.
In recent years we have seen great advances in wastewater technology, but land drainage has remained the same for decades relying on age old traditional techniques, which are labour intensive, costly and not to say the least time consuming!
But that’s all about to change as now we can offer the 'Ezy-Drain System' - a revolutionary new product that redefines the process of dispersing water into soil easily and saving £££ in the process.
Ezy Drain comes in 3 metre lengths of twin wall pipe and includes the geotex membrane, all you need are 110mm coupling to join up every 3m*

Septic Tank Bristle Filter

Why Install A Septic Tank Bristle Filter
The majority of septic tanks on the market have an internal baffle to retain the solid waste within the system and allow the effluent (dirty water) to run into a soakaway.
Over time baffles can become dislodge or damaged and this then allows the solid waste to leave the septic tank and enter the soakaway, this in tun then clogs up the soakaway and stops it from working.
How Does The Septic Tank Bristle Filter Work?
In the past the only solution when a septic tank baffle broke was to install a whole new system
With the Septic Tank Bristle Filter this is no longer the case! The Filter acts as a baffle and allows the effluent to enter the soakaway whilst containing the solids waste within the septic tank.
Installation
Installation of the Septic Tank Bristle Filter is incredibly simple and easy to install.
Simply install the Septic Tank Bristle Filter in to the vertical T on the outlet side of the septic tank or sewage treatment plant, this then removes up to 70% of suspended solids from a septic tank and 30% from a sewage treatment plants which will greatly lengthen the lifespan of your soakaway.

Klargester Ezy Drain

Septic Tank Supplies are proud to offer the new Klargester Ezy Drain

Ezy-Drain: The most cost effective solution for a Soakaway or Drainage Field.

In recent years we have seen great advances in wastewater technology, but land drainage has remained the same for decades relying on age old traditional techniques, which are labour intensive, costly and not to say the least time consuming!

But that’s all about to change as now we can offer the 'Ezy-Drain System' - a revolutionary new product that redefines the process of dispersing water into soil easily and saving £££ in the process.

Utilising recycled synthetics packed around sectional tubes, the Ezy-Drain design offers a packaged solution which avoids the drawbacks of using loose quarried aggregates. The resultant benefits are an extremely lightweight system that can be rapidly installed without the need for specialist skills.

Ezy -Drain consists of lengths of perforated plastic pipe, embraced by a synthetic aggregate and then wrapped in a netting of polyethylene.
It comes in 3 metre sections which are easily connected by the use of standard 110mm fittings and junctions.

The synthetic aggregate is made from recycled expanded polystyrene, made to ensure the best drainage performance and at the same time keeping its form. Designed to be placed under a geo-textile membrane, Ezy- Drain is delivered ready assembled to the site where your soakaway is required.

Ezy Drain is so simple to install it can be assembled by one person on site. This asks the question why spend a fortune on shingle, pipes, labor costs and digger fuel?
Installation
  1. Dig the trench
  2. Place Ezy Drain in to trench (Extra Polyagg optional but recommended for best results)
  3. Backfill with soil and replace surface (Geotextile membrane protects soakaway from the soil)

Applications
Ezy Drain is ideal for Septic Tanks and Sewage Treatment Plants, but can also be used for surface water runoff, i.e Rainwater Harvesters

Ezy-Drain replaces the perforated pipe work of a ‘herring-bone’ drainage field. Ezy-Drain’s storage and flow characteristics typically achieve 35% more surface area than natural aggregates, resulting in enhanced water treatment capabilities and a reduction in long term clogging.

Seasonal Soakaways

Ezy-Drain is ideal to install as a ‘seasonal soakaway’ flowing from a treatment plant. A seasonal soakaway allows infiltration of treated effluent where ground conditions permit or transfers effluent to an alternative discharge point when ground conditions are unfavourable.

Benefits
  • Speed of installation – up to 4 times faster than traditional methods.
  • Lightweight increases handling capability and reduces health & safety hazards
  • Single manpower installation – less labour and plant intensive
  • Minimises site waste and disposal costs
  • Flexibility removes need for boxes or chambers
  • Ideal for sites with restricted access
  • Higher water dispersion rate than traditional methods
  • Reduced site impact - minimal reinstatement and clean up
