Building Regulations

Siting
Septic tanks and holding tanks should be located at least 7m away from any habitable part of a building & preferably down slope.
Sewage treatment plants can sometimes be allowed to be as close as 5m, but must be agreed with a building inspector.
There are adequate means of access for emptying & maintenance (emptying usually requires hard ground within a distance of 30m)
drainage field or mound should be ideally located 10m from any watercourse or building
